SYSTEMIC CURIOSITY

A curiosity that begins with objects and expands into systems.

Mertcan Avcı works with a curiosity that begins with objects and expands into systems. What matters is not how a product looks, but why it exists in that form and what structure it belongs to.

That curiosity moves seamlessly through workshops and hands-on production, digital platforms, sensor networks, and data layers. Whether physical or digital, every creation is born inside a structure. When that structure is poorly designed, even the best ideas lose their power.

PRACTICE OF PRODUCTION

A continuous practice of working inside complex systems.

From TÜBİTAK-recognized projects to work awarded by NASA, from building university production laboratories to human-centered design processes developed for UNICEF. These are not isolated achievements, but a continuous practice of working inside complex systems.

Industrial design here is not merely about form. It is a way of understanding how people, technologies, and resources move together. The focus is not on individual products, but on the structures, flows, and decision mechanisms that make them possible.

STRUCTURAL FOCUS

Those who design structures shape their outcomes.

Over time, one reality becomes clear: those who design structures shape their outcomes. Opaque systems, misaligned incentives, and broken feedback loops push people toward harmful results, regardless of intention.

For this reason, the work is not about directing individuals, but about designing the ground they move on. Platforms, atlases, and digital tools exist to make that ground more transparent, more productive, and more just.

INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE FUTURE

The future is not something to predict; it is an infrastructure built by today’s systems.

The future is not something to predict. It is an infrastructure built by today’s systems. Every effort here aims to improve the present while leaving a durable foundation for what comes next.
